I am a new user to Photoshop 2022. I am having a lot of trouble with my first project even after watching muliple video's on the subject.  All I want to do is add a part of one picture to another and save the results. If anyone can help I would be very grateful ad I have invested quite  bit of time trying to figure this out   Best Regards    Alex

Open both files, use selection tools, do a copy & past of the selected pixels.

There would be several ways to do this. This way might suit you-

1) Two images opened in separate windows

2) Select the object to move using any of the selection tools

3) Choose the 'Move' tool (Press keyboard [V] )

4) Drag the selected object onto the other image.

See attached video (where I also use [Transform] to resize the copied object.

Regards. My System: Lightroom-Classic 13.2 Photoshop 25.5, ACR 16.2, Lightroom 7.2, Lr-iOS 9.0.1, Bridge 14.0.2, Windows-11.

Thanks very much for the fast response, it is very much appreciated however
I either misunderstood what you are telling me or there is something else
wrong as it did not work.
I have two picture tabs open and need to cut out a part of one of them and
add the cut out to the other picture. When I use the select tool and
select and mask I am able to get the object separated from the rest of the
picture but then I am at a loss as to where to go next. Any additional
advice would be great
Thanks very much.

In the Layers panel of the image where you have done the cut-out, right-click and choose "Duplicate" from the long list of options.

When the Duplicate Layer dialog box appears, the the "Destination" pop-up menu to the other document, tben click okay.

Be sure to save your open documents as Photoshop files (.psd files) if you have not done so already.

Or just use copy and paste. No different than, say, Microsoft Word.
