I've downloaded Photoshop Cs6 and have registered it, but have been unable to activate it.
When I try to activate through internet, I come to a page that says Adobe activate services are unavailable.
When I tried to activate through the phone, I come to a recorded message saying that phone activate is no longer available and to go to adobe.com/go/activate.
When I go to the link, I get instructions for downloading offline.
It says to type in a "request code" along with the serial number to get a "response code".
I cannot figure out how to get a request code. There is no place to put that I cannot connect to the internet, etc on the application to get to this page.
The only solution I see is being able to get an authorization code for the "phone activation" page, but that's not available.
Tried chatting with Adobe (the 24/7 chat) and the agent had no solution and just wasted an hour of me waiting.
HELP!

Who did you buy it from? Adobe hasn't sold it since January.

Did you try Product Registration under the Help menu?
Do you see Product Registration under the Help Menu? Or Activate?
Is that what you used to get to the Adobe Website?

This sounds very much like a pirated copy. No download purchase has been available legitimately for a long time.
Since CS4, activation was silent and automatic. It would activate itself, no user action required. All you needed to do was enter the serial number.

That's what made me suspicious. He was talking as if he purchased and registered it today.

I’ve had Photoshop Cs6 for the longest time. I recently got a new computer and thought I’d have to do the new monthly subscription one which is mega expensive.... but I was going through my things and found the Cs6 cd that I had on my old computer. It downloaded and registered successfully on my new Computer but it won’t activate. since everyone on the forums seems to be of no help I’ll just call adobe today.

The monthly subscription (Photographers plan) includes Photoshop CC2017/2018 plus Lightroom and updates as they become available for around $10 a month. I wouldn't have thought that is "mega expensive".

I can’t afford to do annual so the cheapest month by month available would be $29.99 a month which adds up quickly when I have other bills.

I think you're looking at the wrong plan – as I mentioned, look at the Photographers Plan, it's around $10 a month in the US and roughly £10 in the UK (I think you're looking at the single app plan which is more expensive).

It is not $10, and if one already purchased a CS6 and was installed, but moved off the old system and then onto the new you have a legal right to install. I am in the same camp. I can not get it activated. I have no interest in a WEB dependant version of photoshop...
I don't want to RENT my software, because it then is not my software...
Like said I am in the same boat

I had to redo the calculation. Leaving Lightroom out of it, and at the old Norwegian purchase price - that's 8,33 years before the subscription catches up. But that's not factoring in upgrades along the way!
If you do that, the calculation becomes a little more complex. But during 8,33 years, you would also have purchased no less than four upgrades if you wanted to stay current. And I did. That more than doubles the total purchase price, so you end up at roughly 17 years.
Adding Lightroom to the mix, it'll take you twenty-something years before you hit break even. And during all that time, all you ever see is a small withdrawal every month, much smaller than your phone bill! which you probably don't complain about. I spend more on take-away coffee!
Mega expensive indeed.
