So basically there are parts of various images that I'd like to add a drop shadow to. I'm familiar with how to do it if there is an existing layer for just that object but what is the process when the image is flat?
The included is just an example I cut out of a larger image.
Thank you all in advance. You have been insanely awesome with my last couple of issues!
If you are using Photoshop, then Drop Shadow is a Layer Effect and is applied to all the pixels on the layer. If you want the drop shadow on just the cat, then it needs to be on its own layer. If the layer does not have transparency, the shadow will go around the entire layer, possibly outside of the canvas.
