How can I change Artboard Links placed picture with Data Variables?

Hello!

I need to be able to switch via variables, the linked multiple file in a ArtBoard.  But when I try to create a viariable from a Linked files (Place Linked...).  It just offert the visibility parametter.  There is no link replacement variable.  Like it is offert for picture layer (Pixel Replacement).   Is it normal?   Is there a way to do it?

These are completely different things and its not surprising that you can't mix them.

Variables predate smart objects and are not designed to work with them.

There are many scripts available to work with smart object replacements.

Data sets do not function with Smart Object layers. Firstly, you cannot utilize that feature with Smart Objects, period.
