Here is the picture I want to fix - I tried using the healing brush, but still the sun spots did not disappear...any other methods to recommend?

Hi Carol,

I think my suggestion on this would be to use Content Aware with Color Adaptation turned on.

I be lazy because of the severe flare I would just add an empty layer on top and use my wacom pen and clone stamp tool and patch tools to paint over the spots the best I could.  With that type of flare I don't think you would have much success with adjustment or ACR adjustment brush.  I have not practice that much with ACR  to be able to pull it off.
