How do disable the "what's new" screen when I start up Photoshop?

Explorer ,
Oct 14, 2023 Oct 14, 2023

photoshop CC  25.0.0 20230906.r.37  Windows 10

Edit > Preferences > General > Auto Show the Home Screen is UN-checked.

I like a nice clean workspace when I open up Photoshop - I've disabled "suggestions based on my activity"; I (almost) always clear my recent files.

And while we're on this topic, recent versions of Photoshop have been interrupting my workflow with asking if I want to share my image when I'm saving a file, or stuff like this: I did a Select All and it put up the selection marquee and then it put up a window advertising Generative Fill.   How do I get Photoshop to just shut up and let me work?

Thanks in advance.

Did you restart after unchecking Photoshop > Preferences > General > Auto Show the Home Screen?

Because your (clipped) screenshot seems to show that it is visible.

Did you uncheck Photoshop > Preferences > Tools > Show Rich Tooltips?

@c.pfaffenbichler "Did you restart after unchecking Photoshop > Preferences > General > Auto Show the Home Screen?"

As far as I remember you have to open a new document after Unchecking Auto Show the Home Screen and then close and reopen Photoshop for it to take effect

Ah!

It’s been a while since I turned that off, so I may have misremembered …

Me too, don't think I've used the Home Screen since it's introduction, but I just tried it and indeed to do need to open a new document first

i have the same problem, (AGAIN!!!)   but now its even worse.

(yes i have unchecked "show home screen" and "rich tooltips")

whats worse now, even when i open documents!!! , this F***********N homescreen does not go away!!

i dont see my tools, layers, etc..

only my documents and that home screen, advertising "photoshop teams" and "cloud documents" and "whats new in photoshop" and "Clean up with AI" ..  a window full of Advertisements..     but no way to do anything.

i dont know whats worse, the "save" function not working after hours of work and a client demanding to get the result of my work,

or a photoshop that simply does not work but only shows me ads for itself..

unbelievable

In the upper left of the Home  screen, click the Ps icon. It will place you into Photoshop.

Open Preferences (Ctrl k on Windows) > General > check "Use Legacy New Document Interface"   Restart.

It should work now.  If not, click the "Reset Preferences on Quit", Restart and try again.

I just installed a new computer. Adobe sent me PS 2025. To get rid of the Home screen I did: Edit > Preferences > General > Auto Show the Home Screen is UN-checked. It didn't work. I've tried three times, each time shutting down and restarting. The home page is still there. Suggestions please!

I just tried an earlier suggestion, opening a new file. It worked.

No more Home window. Thank you.

Yes, but that only works one time.

To get rid of the home screen permanently, uncheck the box (obviously), open an image so that you have the proper PS workspace, then close the image out again, leaving only the workspace. Then close Photoshop.
