How do I invert the black and white on masks?

My photoshop as-is right now, has the mask's white for areas that are shown, and black for areas that are hidden.

I would like it to change so that white is for areas that are hidden and black for areas that are shown.

I'm asking this because with the photoshop that I use at work, I can use the eraser tool to hide areas with the mask, while at home my brush tool is the one that does that, and is very counter intuitive

If you swap the FG and BG colors (X) does the eraser now do what you want it to?

This is not what I asked, that simply invert's what's hidden and what's shown, I want to permanently change what the white color does and what the black color does.

I want to be able to hide areas with the erase tool instead of the brush tool
