How do I permanently remove the Latin text that appears when using the text tool?

Every time I make a selection with the Text tool, it automatically fills the space with

"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Quis ipsum suspendisse ultrices gravida. Risus commodo viverra maecenas accumsan lacus vel facilisis. "

This doesn't happen on my old computer, only the one I just finished building the other day. I read a few other topics of people asking the same thing but no one posted a solution.

Lorem Ipsum is placeholder text, and it's used to show what text content would look like in a layout when actual content isn't available. To turn it off, go to Edit > Preferences > Type... and uncheck Fill new type layers with placeholder text.

It wasn't under Edit on my iMac, rather, it was under Photoshop>Edit>Type, etc. Other than that, the instructions were perfect.

Thank you.

Disregard the Edit in my statement above. Just Photoshop>Preferences>Type, etc.

Preferences are always in the Application menu on macOS and in the Edit menu on Windows in all applications. Glad you found it!
