How to break placed link file

Hi community.

Is there a way once you place linked file into the document, to be able to make a copy of that placed linked, like the smart object option has, make new smart object via copy?

It's not clear what you require.

Do you want to embed the linked image? Rasterize it? Duplicate linked?

Linked SO files obviously have different rules and expectations than embedded SO files.
