How to get palettes to lock into place??

Engaged ,
Nov 24, 2024 Nov 24, 2024

My computer failed so had to buy new one yesterday.

I am paying for the Photoshop subscription + some upgraded thing the person talked me into yesterday.

+ I keep trying to change the name of the screen shot but it refuses to let me change name at all!

Thanks for help.

+ How do I get my character, paragraph, color palettes to lock to the R side under the layers palette... they just don't want to stay in place!!!! Even though I drag them over there.
I keep resetting workspace but the palettes won't hold in place!!!

Hi Ann.  Do you know how to create a new workspace?  Drag the panels into position — you'll see a blue bar when they are about to dock.

When they are all in positions go Window > Workspace > New Workspace.  You can also save custom shortcuts and toolbars with that workspace.

I am trying to get to the discussions to reply to Trevor.Dennis.
Unfortunately... all each palette does is try to go to the top so that I
have 3 or 4 palettes lined up next to each other at top R instead of going
into the far bar area...
Want Layers and then below color and then below character and paragraph but
instead I am getting this???
So instead of going into proper place.... they are just lining up to each
other side by side instead.

I had put them in place and did new workspace but not holding.

Thanks for help!!!!!!

Dear Trevor.Dennis, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately... not getting it to work....

I drag the color, character, paragraph palettes over and get the blue line... BUT.... instead of going in UNDER layers... they line up next to each other side by side.

I've tried creating new workspace but color, character & paragraph just float and do not stay in place on the doc.

I wanted them to line up under layers... but I am not having luck trying.

Thanks again!!!!!!!

I got the palettes to line up BUT.... I can't get the palettes to dock properly on R.... NO blue line shows up.

Please see attached... Thanks. Didn't know I had gotten your answer as didn't go to email to let me know someone had answered. Will try again.

+Might you know how to save screen shots as pdf or jpg INSTEAD of preview??? Thanks if you do......

Are you making sure to pay attention to exactly where the blue line previews where the panel will go when dropped? Because it should be very predictable…what the blue line covers is where it’s going to go. For example, if you want the Character panel to stack under the Layers panel, then as you drag the panel, position the pointer at the bottom of the Layers panel to make sure the blue line appears below the Layers panel, and do not release that mouse button until the blue line confirms that is where the drop will go.

The blue line can indicate, as shown below, respectively: Dock to left edge, dock to top edge, dock to right edge, dock to bottom edge, and when you see all four edges light up it means the panel you’re dragging will become a tab within the highlighted panel.

In the demo below, you can see how I position the dragged pointer over each side of a panel, and how the blue line lights up different sides to indicate where the panel will go if I release the mouse button there.

I just had similar problem after upgrade (palettes won't dock). Using a 2024 workspace worked for me.

Suggestion for a workaround: Try downloading v 2024. If you can dock palettes -- save the workspace. Use that workspace in 2025 version.
