Hello. I have been using Photoshop SC6 (an actual disk) which was a gift from my Son, in 2012. I have a HP Pavilion g6 laptop, Windows 7, x64.
I'm thinking about purchasing a new HP laptop with Windows 10, very soon. I'd like to know how to install my CS6 to the Win 10 laptop, before I make the purchase. I've been looking in the main Adobe page but I got no info at all.
I would really appreciate the infomation. Thank you!

Transfer cables might be OK for moving image files from one PC to another but they won't help you with software. You really need to run the Windows 10 installation routine to effectively write data to high system registry files. Otherwise, your software will never activate or work properly. And the first time you launch your software, use right-click and select Run as Administrator.

1. Insert disk in the optical reader tray.
2. Run the installers.
3. When prompted, enter your serial number.

Thank you for the quick answer, Nancy, my apologies for the lateness in coming back here.
Would it be possible to use one of those transfer cables? That's how I transferred everything from my Vista laptop to the HP Win7 I have now - it worked like a charm!

If you don't want to buy an external optical reader, ask a friend or family member with a reader to copy the installation disk to a USB flash drive for you.
Install CS6 BEFORE the updates.

Thank you for the great information, Nancy! Let me see if I understand this correctly:
1 - Let's assume I have a new HP Win10 laptop, the Win10 installation goes perfectly well. Then I install CS6 from my Disk and follow all the instructions there.
2 - Then when I open CS6 for the first time, instead of my usual double-clicking on the icon, I right-click and choose Run as Admin?
3 - After CS6 opens and everything is working well, then it's time to install the Updates.
Feel free to correct and/or add any more ideas or info to the above 😄
Thank you again, Nancy!
Stay safe.
ps - The laptop I'm waiting to buy (it's out of stock right now) is an HP with 8GBs RAM and 1TB HDD, with a great DVD/CD driver.

Thank you for the link, Nancy. Do you suggest that I get an external DVD/CD drive to install PS CS6?

Once Installed and activeted you need to downloads the CS6 Updates and ACR 91.1. anf install them. CS6 is very unstable without the updates..

Thank you, JJMack, I appreciate the info. Actually I do not use the Raw part of Photoshop, Ever, I prefer to just leave/use the pictures I have in my laptop - it's much easier for me.
Thank you for the Photoshop Updates link. I have the original 2012 CS6 version, I believe is 13.0.
So, should I download the next one or the latest one? 0.1.1, or 0.1.2, or 0.1.3? And, should I do that now before I actually install the CS6 on a new Win10 laptop?
Do you think I must download that ACR? Those kinds of things really scare me!

If you have an old Camera that CS6 ACR opens you do not need 9.1.1 all that ACR 9.1.1 does for CS6 is support some newer cameras the new feature in ACR 9 are disabled for CS6 users by Adobe. You do need to update CS6 13.0 to 13.0.1.3

Thank you again for the info, JJMack. Like I mentioned before, I do not use the Adobe Camera Raw option. EVER! So it doesn't really matter if I have an old camera or not - I just open PS, then Open whatever image I want to work on, that's really easy for me.
Problem/question not quite solved yet.

Your question has been answered.
If you have an installation disc, you need to use a DVD drive. If there isn't one in the laptop, you need to buy an external one. That's all there is to it.
There is no way you can "transfer" from the old laptop. It won't work. You have to run the full installer from the disc.
Camera Raw is installed whether you want it or not, it's an integral part of Photoshop. If you don't need it, just don't use it.
When you have Photoshop installed from the disc, you can run the updates. Just do the latest, they're cumulative.

Thank you for the clarification, D_Fosse, I appreciate your input. One last, quick question.... after everything is downloaded/installed etc., should I go ahead and download the ACR?
When Microsoft released Win10 and a few Photoshop artists friends of mine installed their Photoshop, they were all saying what a nightmare it was to do! So I have been reluctant to get anything with Win10 because of that. I loved my Vista laptop. And I love my Win7 laptop even more!
So, I hope that this new adventure into CS6 on Win10 will be easy, so that I can continue to be creative and have fun with my CS6. I know that I can always count on excellent information, assistance and support from the good people here at Adobe Community.
Thank you again.
Stay safe.
