I know there are lots of videos that teach a specific technique or a skill, but I'm wondering, for someone like me who has never used the program, what is the best way to learn this program.

I was hoping there might be a guide that could teach me the program in a linear fashion from the most basic to

Hi,

The modern way is something like Linda.com / Linked in Learning.

I'm an old fashioned ink and paper guy

I like a printed book to refer back to, you only buy a book once too ;~}.

The publication that taught me most about Photoshop is Photoshop CS Artistry, comes with a DVD with the images and instructions how to do work-throughs. Its great, a very morable way to work. Mine copy is full of post it tabs even now.

I wanted to include a disk with images (or a download site) in the book I co-wrote with Michael Walker  "Getting Colour Right" but the publishers decided that was too expensive.

You may find a used copy of Getting Colour Right" out there - it's for an older version of Photoshop for sure, but the basic rules on image preservation through the digital process are what its all about and they still apply.

I hope this helps

if so, please "like" my reply and if you're OK now, please mark it as "correct", so that others who have similar issues can see the solution

thanks

Many beginners like to learn Photoshop as part of a live classroom so they can ask questions as they come up. You can find Adobe Certified Instructors on the Adobe Partners website and filter to your area and subject matter. Most live classrooms include an online option for those who live in remote areas, so don't worry if you don't find something close to you.
