I'm trying to create a warped space curve like examples here.

I've been able to make a retro 3D grid by creating lines and transforming them but I'm not sure how to go about the warped section. I've tried liquifying it and transforming more but it doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi

I would make that in a 3D application where it is very easy to set up a plane, subdivide it and move the middle proportionally to create the dip. After that a metallic ball and another ball with transparency controlled by a fresnel effect to create a glow. I made this example very quickly in Blender:

This might work better as a vector graphic in Illustrator.

Hi Dave, thanks for your advice! I haven't really used blender before but trying it just now. How did you move the middle to create a dip? I'm struggling with that bit.

Hi

After subdividing the plane select one vertex in the middle and turn on proportional editing (shortcut O). Then move the vertex down in the Z direction and you will see a circle appear around the cursor. You can adjust the size of that circle with the mousewheel and that sets how many surrounding vertices are also dragged with the vertex you are moving it proportionally.
