I wonder if you guys can help me?
I'm trying to move multiple groups around my artboard, one at a time. I have the Auto-Select turned on and is set to Group.
However I can only select the top layered group to move around and not the other groups.
(unless I select the group in the layers and then move them, which is the long way of doing it, and gets confusing with all the groups) "Faster is better"
All the groups have "child" groups in them, but I only want to move the "parent" groups.
I have also checked and have the latest update 19.1.3

and gets confusing with all the groups
Well, it might be a little less confusing if you actually rename your layers/ groups to something meaningful. Just saying. Otherwise there's no way to change the behavior. Auto-select does what it implies: it merely looks for which pixels are visible at certain coordinates and selects the layer/ group associated with the topmost pixel. More complex layer selections will always have to be done in the layers palette or using actions/ scripts based on specific naming patterns.

Thanks for the quick response Mylenium. I do have my group layers named to something meaningful, however I just used Group 1,2.... as an example.
I have seen how someone else selects on a "Grouped object" just by clicking on them and not through the layers palette on this tutorial. Cosmetics Mock-Up Creator / How to add Items to your scene - YouTube However when I try to select a certain "Grouped object" it always just selects the top group layer. Which is not the one I wanted to be selected.

Do you want to say that you have nested layer groups (groups inside group)? In that case right click on top level group (inside which lives all other groups) and choose: Delete Group. In pop-up which will appear choose: Group Only to get rid of top level group. Everything should work as you expect unless you still have nested groups.
Another quick fix is to right click above object (with Move tool active) and to choose from context menu the name of the group which you want to select. In that case you can keep folder structure with top level group, just uncheck Auto Select. After choosing name of the group it will be selected in the Layers panel, just click and drag.

Thanks guys for the help Bojan Živković Mylenium, I have played around until I figure out what my problem was.
One of my nested groups was causing the problem, and had to merge that group to solve the problem.
Inside my parent group I had four other groups [Cover, Pages, Spiral, Shadow] and inside each one of them I had another folder that contains [ambient Occlusion, Global Illumination, Solid]. Once I merged this group, I was then able to duplicate the parent group (Having two notebooks on my screen) and move them around without selecting them in the layer palette.
"Still don't know why this group caused the problem"
Hope this will help someone else...
