How To Remove Exif Data

Hi,

Can you tell me how to remove all exif data, tags, etc from a photo?  And, how to batch remove?  Do you have to add a plug in?

Save for the Web (Shift + Ctrl + Alt + S) and then choose None for Metadata.

Your question is too general.  It's a bit like asking "When cruising around town I see a lot of cars for sale - would any of them be recommended?"

Sorry, I thought you were asking a follow-on question.  It didn't make any sense that you would ask about a plug-in if you were already told how to do it in Photoshop.

Frankly, it doesn't make all that much sense to use Photoshop at all for the task.

Have a look at the freeware viewer called IrfanView .  I believe it can be set to batch process a group of images, and save them back out without metadata.

Barbara, consider also 3rd party utilities. For professional use, I suggest this EXIF data eraser  -- since it's very accurate and quite straightforward. For simplistic usage, Save for Web or just re-saving to another format is enough.

I tried saving to a differnt format. Most of the EXIF data has gone, but it appears to remember the original creation date, which is what I want to remove, as I don't want it to be known which day the original photo was taken.

The "All Metadata (new file)" option from my Bulk Remove All Selected Items.jsx script will remove all metadata while retaining layers (this particular script is for interactive single image use).
