I need to resize an iPhone image to use as a passport picture
I use image/resize in Photoshop cc but tho the dialogue box says 2x2
the image on the screen is 10% that size
is there a setting I'm missing?
Dont hate Photoshop, learn how to use it – the physics would be the same whichever application you used!
The resolution is how close the pixels (short for picture elements) are together. For printing you need them to be between 200 to 300 PPI (pixels per inch).
All you need to do is (with the resampled ticked) is overtype the 1224 with 300. Job done.

You can set the Crop tool to 2inches x 2inches and (say) 200ppi for resolution.
(Regarding the image size panel, double check you're using inches - look at the drop down menu)

Thanks Derek
I didn't want to crop because I needed the image as is
I did use inches in the image size panel and it reported that it was the correct size
Can you explain how resolution is a factor?
I know that I am missing something simple
thanks

In the Image Resize panel untick Resample, type in 2 inches in the width field. Now what is the Resolution in Pixel/inch?

1244 pixels per inch
BUT now when I untick resample the image size doesn't change
It stays the original size
IF I leave it ticked then the image goes down to tiny
I do hate photoshop.....
