I upgraded to catalina and now I lost Photoshop, Word, Excel, etc.  Is there anyway to get those back?

Depends. Catalina went full 64 bit disabling legacy 32 bit apps or 64 bit apps with 32 bit components. You can try a reinstall as suggested, but if it doesn't work, either downgrade MacOS to Mojave or replace with your apps with Catalina capable versions.
