I'm trying to make a painterly-style action, but it doesn't work

I was watching this awesome TextureLabs tutorial  to achieve a painterly style for your artwork.

I wanted to apply this technique to an animation I'm working on Blender, so I needed to create an action and batch the PNGs exported from Blender.

I tried and tried again, but it won't apply the art history brush strokes to my picture.

What am I missing? What am I doing wrong? Is it impossible to record (art history) brush strokes? I'm lost at this point.

I'm using TextureLabs' brushes linked in his tutorial.

Thanks for anyone who'll help me 😄
