Images from Lightroom no longer look the same!

Hi,

For the first time that I can remember ( I think it is after all the latest updates with Photoshop and Lightroom) that now when I right click to edit an image that I have "worked" in Lightroom , well it just looks different in Photoshop. Blacks levels  are not the same and there are other issues as well.

I just noticed that Lightroom is exporting the file as it looks in Photoshop, even though it looks different in Lightroom which is how I want it to be. (I will also post this for Lightroom support).

I checked my Lightroom preferences and nothing seems changed.

Also there does not seem to be any updates to do either.

Anyone else have this issue or know of a solution?

Hi,

Two things come to mind.

1. In Photoshop > Edit >Color Settings make sure Colour Management Policies are set to "Preserve Embedded Profiles"

2. You may have a broken monitor profile.  Are you using Windows or Mac?

Yes, "Preserve Embedded" are all set.

I am on an iMac

And Lightroom is exporting the file to desktop the same as it looks in Photoshop which is not how it looks in Lightroom, so I am thinking this is a strange new Lightroom issue?

PS - I alro re calibrated my moniter and it did not fix the issue.

When you calibrated your monitor did you produce a version 2 ICC profile or a version 4 profile (if the latter try v2)

Sorry, I do not see those options in the iMac preferences Displays / Color / Calibrate / set up process

Try the system "Display" profile just as a diagnostic test.

I agree with Dave that it sounds like a monitor profile issue. In addition to v4 profiles that can be problematic, table-based (LUT) profiles can also cause some applications to fail.

Can you post a side by side screenshot? Put both apps up on the same screen and post that.

When you say you calibrated, we assumed you had a calibration sensor and software to make a new profile. But you are just tweaking this in the OS?

Hi,

For calibrating, I just used the built in option in the Apple preferences, not any external calibration device.

And here is an example of the issue. In this case the problem is in the hair, there are other issues with other images that is in the black tones. And this issue is also there if I export the image from Lightroom to desktop.https://www.dropbox.com/s/y4w31rl4hf5h427/side_by_side_test.jpg?dl=0
