Hey there,
I'm looking for a solution to being able to index gradients in photoshop so that it evenly indexes the gradient in a pixeled way. At the moment if I select "index colours" it does apply the selected amount of colours to the design but the gradient appears in a weird colour-way with a sort of strange pattern, not evenly.
What I'm looking for is this (I need it for working with industrial weaving machines):
Thank you very much for any idea and help!

Please post a screenshot including the »Indexed Colors«-settings.
How many different colors does your Color Table have?

Hi c_pfaffenbichler,
I made screenshots of two different settings, let me know if those are the right screenshots you asked for!

If you are dissafisfied with »Diffusion« and »Noise« you may have to manually pre-rasterize the gradient.

Thank you for your comment. Which function do you think works best for pre-rasterizing a gradient?

I think setting a Gradient Layer to Blend Mode »Dissolve« may provide an option.

That was such a good hint!! Thank you very much, it tried it with various designs and it works perfectly when indexing the colours.
That helps me a lot in my work for the weaving loom,
thank you very much!
all the best
