Inner Bevel does not work on text

For some reason the Inner bevel does not apply to any texts. It doesn't seem to matter how large or small I make the bevel. I keep getting the same flat result. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this. It used to work. If I want any results I have to do a pillow emboss which I don't want. See example below. You can see in the "preview" that it appears to be working but it does not show up on any text. I am using the lastest version of PhotoShop on a Windows PC.

Did you also increase the shadow opacity? In your screen shot, it's at 0.

Your shadow setting is on overlay. It needs to be on normal or multiply.

No, making that change had no effect.

Yes, have done that too and has no effect. I'm at a loss. I used to be able to do this all the time so not sure what has happened.

That was it! Ugh, I feel like such an idiot! Looked at everything but that. Thanks so very much. I've been making myself nuts. Greatly appreciate everyone's input and for the solution.

We all do things like that. I know I do! If the opacity was set higher, you still would have needed to set the blend to multiply.
