Hello again this is Debra, I am also thinking about this other computer. If you could let me know what your thoughts are with running Photoshop 2024.

Thanks

Although it may work for now, I fear this is not a good option because this laptop features an integrated graphics card, which is insufficient for the task, at least in my opinion.

Thank you so much. I believe that is what happened with my last HP laptop. I'm retired and just living off my benefits so my cash flow is very small. Just trying to find a computer under $1000 that I can work on my artwork with and create digital images for my website. Are there any computers that you can suggest? I would deeply appreciate that.
Thank you and have a beautiful day

Well, if you wrap your head around the topic, you can build one that is good enough for hobbyists and under $1000. Otherwise, you can still get a deal if you are patient.

Important things to bear in mind:

  • A dedicated graphics card is essential. For a PC, you should aim for at least an nVidia 3060Ti or an equivalent; at least that's my opinion for a new build. Start with the GPU because it is increasingly important and the most expensive component.
  • For the processor, go with a Ryzen 5 or an equivalent. You have sites to check which CPU pairs well with your chosen GPU.
  • RAM is never enough, so opt for 32GB for your desktop.
  • An SSD is a must; go with 1TB as it will be used as a scratch disk. A scratch disk is very important for Photoshop.

Is that it? Not very difficult? Unfortunately, no. There are more things to consider, like DDR and PCIe, when pairing and building to avoid wasting money and to ensure compatibility among all components. You cannot use DDR4 RAM sticks in a motherboard that only supports DDR5.

Start by reading and educating yourself, or begin by choosing a GPU, then search for which CPU to pair with it, which motherboard to use for that particular combination, and so on...

Oh my goodness. There’s a lot to consider. Last time, I just went to Costco
and bought my HP. I believe it lasted for about six years, but this last
Photoshop update blew it out the window.

Thank you for your wisdom on how to make sure my different components are
all compatible.

Under $1000? Something used so you don't waste your money. Adobe is heavily leaning on the video cards now, 16GB of RAM is marginal, and you would end up with something that can't run Adobe apps in a couple of years.

Having said that, I bought an M1 Mac mini refurbished for $800 and its holding up nicely.

When I was going to school For graphic design, I had an Apple which I
loved. But it crashed and that’s when I had to switch down to an HP. Thank
you so very much and I will check that out.

This benchmark indicates that the GPU is sufficiently capable https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/directCompute.html The amount of RAM is just sufficient since the minimum requirement is 1.5GB, although it is advisable to have 3-4GB.

Intel® Core™ 7 processor 150U is good enough.

16GB of RAM is sufficient, but it might not be enough to run Photoshop and other Adobe applications smoothly at the same time.

1 TB, M.2, PCIe NVMe, SSD is OK.

The Dell Inspiron does meet the recommended specs, but you would want to "future proof" and do some searches on the work you want to do with it.

Full proof for the future. That's something good to keep in mind. Thank you and thanks for the link. Some of it, I sort of understand, but I will have to look into it more to wrap my head around it. If you have any laptops suggestions, I would deeply appreciate it.
Have a wonderful day

Most inexpensive Windows laptops will have a lousy display, slow video card, and cheap build quality. Check out some buying guides and reviews, but Bojan nailed the basics.
