Layer blend modes not working

The image is in RGB mode.I put it to Screen ,it's supposed to only show the fire and hide the black parts.I tried other modes and images but nothing works.

You need to have an image layer below the flame layer for the screen blend mode to work

A blend mode is what the name implies: the interaction between two layers. Blend modes don't apply to a single layer (or two identical layers).
