I had 2 photos on the same artboard. I had made a layer on the first photo. Next I used the Quick Select Tool to select one part of that photo layer, and made it into a new layer (Layer dropdown, New, Layer Via Copy). Then I used the Move Tool to take it to the second photo but once there it vanished. After some fruitless trials to correct this, I found an answer that worked for me. I again moved the layer on to the second photo, and it vanished again, but this time I went into the Layer dropdown, clicked on Arrange and Bring To Front. This is the first time I have attempted this task in Photoshop, so any suggestions for a better way next time are appreciated. (DP)

I've branched your reply from a thread about the Color blending mode and moved it to its own thread.
My only suggestion is to keep an eye on your Layers panel so you can see at a glance if a layer is hidden by another layer.
