Layers panel disappears every time I relaunch

My Photoshop is completely up to date, but every single time I relaunch it, my Layers panel disappears. This is very frustrating because Layers are vital to what I do. It's irritating having to go under Window, Layers every time I open the program. This also only happens on one of my two computers (the PC; the laptop is fine) and I ensure that all settings are the same for both. Is there any way to fix this? I really hope I don't have to reset everything... that means taking screenshots of my settings because I want my program to run a specific way, toolbars in certain locations, etc., so setting that back up will be just as troublesome.
