I have a dual display setup on a msi laptop running Windows 10 with a 2nd video card. The laptop built in monitor was using the onboard video card driver (Intel) while the 4k Viewsonic HDMI monitor was using the nVidia Graphics card. Photoshop was defaulting to using the primary display (laptop screen) driver which wasn't enough for liquidfy.

I set my secondary display to be my primary, restarted PS and it defaulted to using the nVidia card, problem solved. Works fine now, I hope that helps.

Check this step!
I solved it after follow this click: Photoshop: Crash w/Liquify (Mac) | Photoshop Family Customer Community

Press Ctrl + K > Performance > Untick Use Graphic Processor.

This may or may not be the right solution, but this worked for me.

this is not a solution, but a bandaid. disabling this also disables certain features of the liquify tool like face detection and manipulatons... Adobe is getting horrible with charging a monthly subscription fee for stuff that doesnt work!

Hey everyone don't stop reading here, go to the bottom of this post and look at the fixes w/r/t setting photoshop to high performance mode in your windows graphic settings. This is a bandaid not a fix

Really? It's been 2 months since the last tiem I was able to use Photoshop properly, without disabling stuff to make it work. Nice assistance btw! "Update your drivers", written 4 months ago from a staff member. Nothing else. Wow. Outstanding customer care and bug fixing.

no, @mirkofl4400848, as of April 16, 2018 this is still a frigging problem! I've updated my drivers, updated all the cloud apps... still the stupid AIF error unless i disable the hardware acceleration.

WHY AM I PAYING FOR CRAP THAT DOESNT WORK PROPERLY??? REFUND MY MONEY!!!

I never tried new PS functions since 2017 because of this. Anyone from Adobe team around?
Looks like "update your drivers" is the only solution we'll have from the staff

I'm so pissed off. Still not working after the update, now I had enough of this. Every goddamn thread about this issue is flagged as "solved" because some dumb reply like "UPDATE *drivers, software, anything else*. WOW, THANKS.
ONE single user DOESN'T mean that you have a solution, for christ sake.

I'm sick of not having a goddamn customer service, tons of bugs and stuff like this, paying each month for 5 years since now. Primarily because I'm the idiot who recommend to tens of my students to use Photoshop instead of other programs, giving them even more money. I'm thinking about changing software atm. I'm still paying for something that I can't use properly, and the Adobe Staff doesn't give a goddamn ****.

Not having a customer care for a professional software, when professionals use that software to work, is unacceptable, I repeat.

I've been struggling with the exact same problems.. I'm a noob in PCs but turns out my problem was that I'm working on two screens with two different GPUs. So I need to put them both on the same GPU..

Guys I've achieved my solution after ripping the web. for windows 10 users, Try going to graphic settings from the display settings menu, you'll have the option to browse an app, add the Photoshop.exe from the installation folder , then click on the added selection and press -> options. Now choose -> High Performance, and Save, restart Photoshop. This was the solution for my case because i using multiple screens from multiple GPU's and PS got confused with the source of the GPU power, very odd bug but i glad its behind me. Hope it'll work for you guys.

SG...way to jump in a post barely help and then leave it to the consumers to do the heavy lifting with figuring out hardware issues... to get your program to work... "update the driver" is one step above "turn it off and turn it back on" callout

That seems to have worked for me, thanks. On my Dell 7730 notebook with three displays and two GPUs, I had to specify the right video card. Hopefully that's a solution until Adobe deals with this. RIGHT ADOBE?

Same problem here with Photoshop CC 20.0.1 on Windows 10.

Yesterday Liquify worked. Today I get the "AIF internal exception" error message.

And of course I'm on a deadline!

Dont know if this helps.

I had "Use graphics Processor" turned on - or else "Oil paint" would not work. When I removed the tick Liiquify worked. Seems stupid - but it worked
