Question

Lock Animations While panning

Hey everyone,

I am trying to do a panning pixel animation. I am having trouble figuring out how to set up the layers properly so that there are certain animations that occur as the video pans across. The way the file is set up is that I have a long drawing that is changing positions in a 20sec duration. What I would like to do is to animate certain people / signs turning on and off happen while the panning occurs.

Thank you!

Will

You can have what looks like an animation within an animation.   However its a single animation they are not independent animations.  They can be on separate layer that are composite into the  single animations frame and these  layers can be linked so when you move the layers for the panning effect animation both animations will be panned together,  Or like your demo the other animations need not be panned  you just need to add all the other layer needed for each frame in the other inner animation all you have now are place holders you are using for the second  third  and fourth animation.   You need to create the layers for the frames  animation contents then replace the place  holders with the animations layer for those other frame animations

Thanks for the reply JJMack.

I like your suggestion to have animations be on separate layers that are then composited into single animation frames which can be linked. Do you mind sharing a link or break it down as to how to do this?

Thank you for your time.

Thank you for the response.

For the text It seems like you animated it separately and brought it in as a smart object to the scene view. If so may you share how the files are linked I am still having trouble with that aspect of it. That would be great.

Thank you!

Will

No I did what I wrote I did.  Layer 1 text content was moved off canvas high left in frame 1 and  Low off screen to the right in frame 2.

I then used tween  to generate 148  frames between frame 1 and 2.

Photoshop generated 148 frames for me, The unlinked layer mask mast the test as it was move across the canvas incrementally by tween.

I then use save for web to save the animated gif
