Is it possible to get the magic wand in photoshop to work like that of Pixelmator (the tolerance part)? If not, that would be an amazing time-saving feature that I'm sure many of us would like to see implemented. Also, while we're at it, how about the paint bucket and magic eraser.

Can you explain or post examples on this Forum directly to illustrate how the Tolerance-seting is different in Pixelmator than in Photoshop?
Paint Bucket and Magic Eraser? Those Tools are, in my opinion, unfit for serious work but again: How do their settings work differently in Pixelmator?

In Pixelmator, you can drag your mouse wile holding left-click to adjust tolerance settings, and it also highlights the area you are selecting so you can see what you're doing. In my opinion, it is significantly easier (and faster) than manually inputting percentages.
