recently i found this issue.

when i create a mask and paint it with hard brush in 100% black,

the layer i painted mask with 100% black is still slightly visible.

it should't be visible as i painted with black.

i painted several times and tried all the brushes, but it still doesnt make the object with black mask unvisible.

it didnt happen in old version. i think this issue came with new version

Hi

I can think of a few things to check: Look at the settings for your Brush and see if there is a Blending mode.

  • What brush are you using?

  • Double-check your swatches. The R, B, and G should all be zero.

If this doesn't help, can you show screen shots?

Also, make sure the flow is set to 100%. Anything less will lay down a shade of gray.

Did you try changing the flow @Michael J. Hoffman ?

I wrote that about the flow, then tested it and saw that it didn't make a difference, so I deleted what I wrote.

Hi Jane,

Yes, for me, when painting on a mask with black or white, the flow setting less than 100% paints with transparency. I tested with 25% flow and the appearance was visible (gray brush strokes vs pure white or black). It doesn't seem to be as predictable as brush opacity settings in desktop PS, but there you could paint with black and not get pure black.

And, since it is flow, not opacity (think airbrush), the slower you paint or the more times your scribble back and forth, the density builds up quickly.
