most recently used color balance settings?

Contributor ,
Jul 29, 2025 Jul 29, 2025

For some reason every time I open the color balance window now it opens up with my most recently used settings, which are literally always wrong for each new image I wish to adjust. I assume some setting was accidently set somewhere to cause this. Where is it, and how do I change it back?

I think I figured it out. For some reason it seems I'd suddenly started holding down the option key along with command-B.

@jfraze you could reset your Photoshop preferences back to its default settings. If you have workspaces or brushes saved, you should make a copy of these because they would be purged.

I'd rather just know which preference needs to be changed. It will take me days to re-do all my other preferences if I re-set them all.

Hi @jfraze

Thanks for reaching out. Just to help us dig in a bit more:

  • Could you let us know which OS version you’re using?

  • Did this behavior start happening after the recent Photoshop 26.9 update?

  • Can you share a quick video?

Looking forward to your response!

Regards,

Srishti
