Hello,

Happy Friday! I hope you are doing well. I am working on my companies logo.

We want a transparent background. In photoshop, it looks transparent (I am seeing the gray x's on the screen.) I am saving the image as a PNG; however, when I open the image the background is white. What am I doing wrong!? Thank you for your help!

Best,

Ashley

Hi, Could you please answer the few questions. How you are trying to save the PNG. What options are you using

  • Save As-> PNG
  • Quick Export As PNG
  • Export As...

Don't use save/save as - use save for web or export instead where you have control of transparency. There is checkbox for Transparency when you use these options.

Let us know if this helps.

Best regards

Thank you so much!

I've save it by the quick PNG, then saved it using the web, then export.
I was told that I did it correctly. I was wanting to check but when I open
the PNG file,
it is being shown on a white background. Maybe it will be transparent when
they put it on the website? How do I check to see if it works?

Apologies for all the questions, I'm trying to teach myself photoshop using
videos.

I have used your PSD files and used option "Export As..." with Transparnecy checked one time and another time unchecked. You can easily see the difference in both the images.

Transparency image

Kelso Logo_3_with_transparency.png

Without transparency

Kelso Logo_3_no_transparency.png

If you open these two attached files in Photoshop, you can easliy see the difference between transparent background image and with no transparency.

Let us know if this helps you.

You say you're opening the image after saving the PNG. What app do you use to open it?
