Need help with Brush Tool!!

Hey guys! I downloaded some custom brushes and I can't seem to get them to work right now. I have used them in the past with no issues. Now when I select them the outline shows on my layer but when I click for it to be put on there just nothing happens, I'll just keep clicking and nothing pops up. I've looked up all the solutions people have found deselecting everything, caps lock off, all of that. Have no clue what is going on. Thanks

Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Brushes, Brush Settings, Options Bar, …) visible? 

What are the Tool’s Blend Mode, Opacity, Flow, …?

And I see the outline when I try to use the brush but when I click nothing happens

You have the History Brush selected.  It must be ten years at least since I used the History Brush.  Possibly nearer to twenty!  There are much better ways to duplicate its effect, and with much more control. 

 If you selected it by accident, then think about remove its shortcut (I can even remember if it has a shortcut).

A nice way to avoid this is to create a new workspace with all the options checked.  If you ever need the default shortcuts or tools, then switch back to Essentials.
