Neural Filter Crash still NOT fixed!

Photoshop still crashes constantly when
- immediately when neural filters is selected
- when quitting Photoshop (this problem already occurred with InDesign some time ago and was fixed after the last update) Now the problem also exists in Photoshop since the last update to the latest version. What the heck are you guys always doing at Adobe!!!
Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings.
DOES NOT HELP!
Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop.
DOES NOT HELP!
Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Still crashing?
DOES NOT HELP!
I am working on a new Mac Studio Max with the latest OS version.
And because this problem occurs platform-independently - on Mac and Windows alike - and has existed for years now, it can't be the operating systems.
I'm curious when Adobe will finally fix this bug so I can finally use Photoshop the way I pay Adobe money for it month after month!

Just this morning I saw that a new PS update was issued overnight: 24.1.
This did not show up for me in the Creative Cloud app, but only appeared after I searched in PS > Help > Updates.
And now it works. I can even uncheck "Open with Rosetta" and have my libraries back. Neural Filters work and PS no longer crashes on exit either. I hope it stays that way now.

So with 24.1, the problem with Neural Filters is gone?

I'm still not seeing any crash logs submitted with the adobe ID/email address from either user name.

Sorry, then I don't know why there are no crash logs. I always clicked on "Submit".
I also do not know what is going on here. When i used photoshop yesterday everything seemed to be ok. No crash, libraries are there, neural filters are working.
Today everything is back to the way it was before. Errors are back.
Neural Filter: Crash
Libraries: missing
Only crash after exit does not seem to appear anymore.

You must get a crash log to Adobe.
Short of that, the only next step I can think of is a clean install of the OS. Then install only Photoshop and test. If still crashing, it's a hardware issue.
You can also make a boot disk from an external drive, ideally SSD, and try the same test. Such a drive is helpful for emergency use.

Reinstalling the system costs me a lot of time, since everything else has to be reinstalled as well. By the way, since I've only had the computer for two months, the system is a fresh install.
But I also wonder where the logic is, if it should be a problem with the hardware or the OS, because the PS version 23.5.3 works.
That in the 24.1 the libraries are missing should be due to a problem with the system? When PS is started with Rosetta, the libraries appear.
Couldn't it rather be that Adobe's customization on the M1 doesn't work cleanly?
Ok, maybe I'll do another clean reinstall.
I have already sent a crash log to Adobe again. Am curious what the answer will be.

No question that a clean install, then all your apps and so on is work. I just did it myself about two months ago when I upgraded to my new Macbook 16” M1. Not because I had issues with any software but more because it was at least six years of not doing so and wanting to clean out years of gunk from multiple hardware and system migrations. I saved gigs of space in the process and while yes, a few days of work slowly installing, testing, working and installing more (and digging up serial numbers), I'm happy I did this.
This can be a software conflict. It could be hardware (bad RAM as one example). The only way to know is a clean install of Ventura on the M1, then one software product (ACC then PS) to know for sure. Migration Assistant can move the software conflict and you're back to square one.
Again, I don't make the recommendation for a clean OS lightly. I just went through it but glad I did.

I have now again deleted everything that has to do with Photoshop. Then I installed only Photoshop 24.1. So there is no other Photoshop installation.
And now I know why I could write recently that Photoshop finally works correctly and without errors. The point is:
When I open Photoshop for the first time after installation, the libraries appear and the filters also work. I can arrange the individual working palettes or leave them as Photoshop shows them to me. The fact is, the libraries are there.
If I quit Photoshop without further image processing and open it again right after, the libraries are gone and when I click on the Neural filters, Photoshop crashes.

Specifically, what Libraries are you speaking of, and what are the names and locations (before 'missing')?

I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday.
I'm not sure I understand you correctly. Which libraries? Well, the libraries that you can create yourself in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
You can generally find them in the menu under : Windows
In the German version they are called Bibiotheken, in the English version libraries.
I have now reinstalled Creative Suite again, but the result is the same as before:
In PS 23.5.3 the libraries are there and neural filters work.
In PS 24.1 the libraries are missing and PS crashes immediately when clicking on Neural Filters.
When I open PS 24.1 with Rosetta, the libraries are there but PS crashes when I click on Neural Filters.
I uninstalled Rosetta to test if it affects the result. But it doesn't help either. The problems with 24.1 remain, but there are also some in 23.5.3, so I reinstalled Rosetta. PS 23.5.3 works.
I still find it strange that PS 24.1 starts without problems the first time after installing Creative Suite. So the libraries are there and neural filters work. If PS is quit and later restarted, the problem is as described above.

Moving on:
haralds64176918 "In PS 24.1 the libraries are missing and PS crashes immediately when clicking on Neural Filters".
Let's stick with either the libraries now defined or Neutral Filters. Where did you save the libraries? I can save and open them on 24.1 without any issues. Did you save them locally or on the cloud? Are they indeed .cclibs documents?
Can you locate the .cclibs documents, can you upload them to something like Dropbox so others can attempt to load them?
There is no need for Rosetta.

Kinda posted this in response to another thread that is now locked and without any useful answers, or at least, none that helped to resolve the issue.
When I first heard of neural filters I was able to load them just fine, though it was less than stable and would sometimes crash while attempting to actually use them. Now, they simply do not even load.
Simply selecting the neural filter option on Photoshop 2023 causes it to crash. Spectacularly. It will automatically close any open files without prompting a save, it doesn't display the crash report window and no logs are created so you can't even check to see WHY it might have crashed.
I'm aware there are other posts on the matter, and some solutions had been mentioned.
1. Reinstalling Photoshop. Tried twice. Doesn't work.
2. Enabling / Disabling GPU in Performance tab. Doesn't work.
3. Enabling / Disabling multithread in Performance tab. Doesn't work.
Another commenter suggested a completely clean install of both the OS and the software. Thanks, but no thanks. Not about to re-install every piece of software on my machine just because one feature on ONE application suddenly decides it doesn't want to work. Literally everything else in Photoshop works just fine, so this issue is limited SOLELY to the neural filters.

I'm having the exact same issue and it's mindnumbingly frustrating. Neural filters were working great. I noticed PS was slowing down a lot today, so I figured a new update was out (that's always my clue because I don't get any other notifications that there's an update). I installed 24.1.0 and now PS is zippier again, but the neural filters aren't working...they simply won't load. I don't understand how nobody bothers trying to make sure features work in a new update before releasing it.

Adobe needs the crash logs submitted with the adobe ID/email address; please save and send (See post by Jeffrey Tranberry. Dec 15, 2022).
Of at the very least, post the System Info found in Photoshop under the Help Menu when posting that you have encountered a crash with these filters.

Maybe I explained it in a misleading way, but it is not only that the libraries are missing in 24.1, but the menu item "Libraries" is missing in the "Window" menu.
So I can't select the "Libraries" work palette in the "Window" menu at all.
No, I do not save any data to the adobe cloud. It is all stored locally.
PS 23.5.3 has no problems to find the libraries.

Yes, I did that, but unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem. For the sake of clarity, from now on it will only be about Neural Filters. They keep crashing immediately in 24.1 when I select them from the menu.

As the title says, Photoshop crashes immediately when I try to select Neural Filters from the filter menu.
In PS 23.5.3, the filters work flawlessly. In 24.1 they immediately cause a crash.
I have already tried all the suggestions posted on the forums. No solution.
Also the suggestions from Adobe - disable PS preferences GPU performance, etc. do not bring any solution.

Let's try this again: I'll ask if you tried this and the results:
Try logging into another user account (you may need to make one), still crashing?
Try starting up in Safe mode (hold down Shift Key when booting), still crashing?
You might want to try running a free utility like Onyx: still crashing?

@haralds64176918 definitely second @TheDigitalDog on that advice, especially:

"I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system. If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address. Instructions here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html That will help us diagnose the crash."
Worth noting that in some cases (in other words literally all of my crashes) you don't get the option to file a crash report. It boots you straight to the desktop immediately and the crash report dialog box never appears. I realise that makes it harder to diagnose the problem, but if it's bad enough that even the crash reporter can't pick up on it, that's reason enough to delve deep into fixing the issue.
Either way, it's clear the problem still persists.

i have sent crash reports to adobe with my email address so many times now that i have lost count. Exactly as described here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html
Just today I sent another one.
Why they don't arrive at your end - no idea.

Perhaps try a thorough reset of Photoshop preferences?
(read this entire post before acting please)
Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes.
If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.
Here’s some info on how to do that:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html
Manually removing preferences files is the most complete method for restoring Photoshop to its default state:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Note re macOS: The user Library folder is hidden by default.
To access files in the hidden user Library folder, see here for how to access hidden user library files.
https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
Unexpected behavior may indicate damaged preferences. Restoring preferences to their default settings is a good idea when trying to troubleshoot unexpected behaviors in Photoshop. check out the video
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset_preferences
Learn how to access and modify Photoshop preferences and customize per your frequent workflows
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html
And here’s an earlier forum discussion as an aid to understanding
You may want to backup your settings and custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences.
Here is general info about that: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#BackupPhotoshoppreferences
Before you reset your preferences
in case of future issues, I suggest you make a copy as Adobe may need one to check problematic references.
Quit Photoshop.
Go to Photoshop's Preferences folder
Preferences file locations: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-names-locations-photoshop.html\
[on MacOS see: Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
Note for those on macOS: - be aware that the user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS.
https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html
In the Finder, open the “Go” menu whilst holding down the Option (Alt) key.
Library will now appear in the list - below the current user's “home” directory. ]
Now you can drag the entire Adobe Photoshop [Version] Settings folder to the desktop or somewhere safe as a back-up of your settings.
Note for those on macOS:
Preference preservation is affected by macOS permissions,
you’ll need to allow Photoshop ‘Full Disk Access’ in your Mac OS Preferences/Security and Privacy
It may even be time to reinstall Photoshop.
It’s recommended that you use the Adobe CC cleaner tool to remove all traces first.
(See above about preserving preferences though! Its worth preserving them unless they are corrupted.)
https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
Uninstall Photoshop BUT make sure to choose the option “Yes, remove app preference”.
Once that process finishes, start the installation process and look into the “Advanced Options”. Uncheck “Import previous settings and preferences” and choose to “Remove old versions”.
I hope this helps
