Neural Filters - "there was an error running this filter"

Hi everyone!

PS 22.1.1 - After reinstalling Windows 10, Neural filters suddenly became unusable. Before it was normal that the first attempt in Smart Portrait produced the yellow triangle with "there was an error running this filter". But on the second attempt, it worked.

Now it works once in ten !!!

Does anyone have the same problem?

We're sorry that you see trouble with Photoshop Neural filters. Thanks for reaching out.

Do you see this issue with all the Neural filters? Can you check if the graphics processor has been enabled or not in (Preferences> Performance)? Would you mind updating Photoshop to the latest version? Do you have any firewall in your system?

Try these steps once:

1. First, try deleting the  PluginData folder.
2. If that doesn't work, try creating a new Admin user account and running Photoshop from the new user account to see if the problem is resolved: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/basic-troubleshooting.html#permissions.

Hi Ranjisha!

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I went through all your suggestions:

• Graphic processor already enabled
• Error message if I try to upgrade from 22.1.1 to 22.2 (23.3.1 is not compatible)
• Norton installed but no firewall blocking PS
• Renamed the Plugindata folder and downloaded the filters again.
• Created a new Admin User Account and launched PS from that account.

The Neural Filters (Smart Portrait) work in a totally random way, regardless of the suggestions made.

However, during these attempts, I have discovered that the probability that they work increases if :

1. After launching them, wait thirty seconds or so, as if the program were to stabilize.
2. If at the beginning only 1 slider moves with minimal changes (1 or 2).
3. In this case, if it works for one change, then the filter works well for several sliders at the same time and major changes.
4. Sometimes it takes 1 or 2 attempts before the filter starts. Otherwise, you have to close PS, reopen it and try again.
5. After saving a photo, you must close and reopen PS to edit a new photo, otherwise, the error message with the yellow triangle returns.

Any other suggestions?
