New content aware fill feature deleting interface

  • I was editing a photo with Edit - fill - content aware, and I got a pop up sign asking if I wanted to try a new content aware fill feature. I pressed "try it now" reading it somehow as "not now" and it filled most of the image in green. Ctrl + Z didn't get rid of it. I managed to get out of it but it deleted the interface with layers and adjustments on the right side of the screen. I had help getting it back to mostly how it was but it's not exact and I want it back how it was. When you press "try it now" you should be able to Ctrl + Z, it's annoying that you have to get the interface back somehow, especially if you are new to Photoshop.

It sounds like you opened the Content aware workspace.

The green area allows you to choose from where the content aware fill will take content, and by erasing the green where it will ignore content.

You can then go on to click OK, Apply or Cancel. The latter takes you back to the Photoshop workspace without any fill.

This is not a bug, just a feature of which you were not aware - I've moved your post from bugs to discussions.
