Newly installed Photopshop on Mac not working

New Here ,
Jun 14, 2021 Jun 14, 2021

I have just paid for and installed Photoshop on my new Mac; the OS (Big Sur 11.4) is bang up to date. I have restarted my computer. Installation was definitely complete.

However, it won't work; it gets as far as this screenshot and then just hangs. I've tried several times, and restarted the Mac again too. Does anyone have any suggestions, please? Screenshot 2021-06-14 at 22.39.40.png

Hi there,

Sorry that Photoshop is freezing on your computer running the macOS BigSur 11.4 . That shouldn't be happening, let us make it right.

Which version of Photoshop are you using and are you using a Mac with the M1 processor?

Since the app is freezing at launch, please checkout the steps mentioned in this article https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/freeze-on-launch.html and see if that helps.

If that does not help, could you please try deselecting "Use Graphics Processor" located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance, then relaunch Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

You may also try the steps mentioned here and see how it goes:

Troubleshoot Photoshop graphics processor (GPU) and graphics driver issues

Thanks,

Akash

I'm kind of curious. If it does not launch, how do you make changes to Preferences? I'm a new PS user and I'd like to know more.

Exactly the same issue here.

Which version of Photoshop are you using and are you using a Mac with the M1 processor?

As the origional message said, the latest version, which is 22.4.2

If that does not help, could you please try deselecting "Use Graphics Processor" located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance, then relaunch Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

How can one do that if it hangs at startup?

I have no set any presets because I have never been able to run the app.

Finally found out how to fix this. Must be an installer bug as the permissions are screwed up.

Hi, sorry about that

I don’t have a solution, but maybe if you try to reset the preferences will work, here the instructions:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

Another Option: You may try the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool

https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

To remove the existing app installation & reinstall once done.

Another option: install a previous version of Photoshop

Go to the creative cloud app and click on the 3 dots next to Photoshop app to see more options and select other versions

you can install a previous version of Photoshop and maybe that will work, sometimes there are bugs and you have to update the system

Let me know if that works

There are a few issues with Photoshop that you can check here

Eugenio
