Non-confessions of a hypothetical pirate.

If a person were to use a pirated copy of photoshop for an amount of time but then decide they in-fact want to pay for it instead and use the legitmate software, what kind of reception would they receive here in this community, I wonder? 

If someone downloaded a pirated version of photoshop just to make stupid memes without giving it a second thought but subsequently developed a genuine interest in digital art and intended to pursue a new endeadvor using photoshop, then perhaps integrity and professionalism alone would be motivation enough to compell said person to actually pay for the tools they intend to use? 

If a person just simply wanted to know whether or not having previously used a pirated version would in some way hinder them from obtaining the software legitimately, on the same machine. One would imagine.

I'm sure plenty of people have done this with no problem, and that Adobe would be pleased you wanted to pay for the software.

A friend of mine (who was  not a prrofessional art or photography person) did have a pirated version of CS3 back in about 2009. I'm pretty sure he ended up buying CS4 and installing it on that same computer. I guess it's possible that he had some kind of problem due to that, but if he did, I never heard about it. I always assumed he had uninstalled the pirated version first.

a lot has changed from the 2009 cs4 days + as Dave said with the malware... I install Adobe on student computers each year and see the pirate copies doing the rounds

still you are correct that uninstalling everything Adobe before trying to put the new one on is the best chance of sucess 😉

I think I'd be more concerned over the 'hypothetical' malware installed with the 'hypothetical' pirate version.

Not judging. But, I think it depends on how you got the pirated version. Did you use a crack? Did it use other serial numbers? I believe that using the cleaner tool would remove both a crack and a previously created serial number, but I would definitely do it for all Adobe programs installed. Make sure you have a back up before you do anything like that, or you'll end up with nothing.
