Object Selection Tool, - Can't De select

On a video it says to click option and then mouse click to de select something the smart selection tool has selected, bu this simply does not work. How do I do this? Thanks

Once an object detected (cricled with magenta), if you click you get the selection with the little marching ants. Still over the object, if you press Option (or alt on PC) the cursor icon normaly shows the sign "-" (minus) and you deselect the object.

At the very end of your video you can notice the minus sign for a very very short moment. so it may work.

You must press option when the cursor is over the objecr. Just place your cursor over. do not click but press option to see if the minus sign appears or not

Simply click on the selected object. (do not release the option key) and the selection will get out. The object will still be rounded with magenta but unselected.

Yes of course, it select what is selected. In this case the guitar and the tripod are only one object. Try with an image where you can select more than one object (pressing shift + click to adds objects one to another). then press option and click on one of the selected objects. It will be deselectd ans the others will stay selected.
