Oil Paint feature and Open CL is grayed out

I lost the oil paint feature, which I have been using for over a year.  I followed online trouble shooting instructions and determined that Use Open CL was  also grayed out.  My graphics card is a 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 745.  I checked to insure that driver was up-to-date, and it was.  What could be causing this problem.  Thanks, Tom

What version of Ps are you using? Can you use the oil filter successfully on a different image? If yes, is the image you have open with the oil filter greyed out 8-bit?

PS cc2015. Oil filter does not work on other pictures, including the

original of ones that have been previously photo shopped with the oil paint

filter. It is my understanding that the oil paint feature will not work

unless Open CL is on. Is there some feature that will not allow the Open

CL to turn on?

Apologies for being late... That system report was a big help. OpenCL was not listed, so I looked around and found a thread dealing with the exact same card and OpenCL problem that was successfully answered.

A Prefs reset might be in order, so here's how to do that:

When I follow the routine, I do not get a message "reset photoshop

preferenes". Instead I get "do you want this app to make changes to your

device" yes__no__. When I click yes the message goes away and PS app

appears with no change in OpenCL.

Curious about what may have changed from the time you were able to use the filter last to now. Now that the oil paint filter is available in the current version of cc have you considered updating?

Really a mystery. Have you seen the automatic reset preference routine

perform in that fashion? Could the two be related? I am confused about

paint filter. Since I have been using it with PS 2015 how would updating

make a difference?

Are all of the other filters accessible?

If you are a CC subscriber why not be on the most current version? Is there a reason for not updating? That may take care of the problem and you'll get the benefits of the newest features rolled out in this latest release.
