Opening ARW Files directly in Photoshop on macOS

New Here ,
Jul 22, 2021 Jul 22, 2021

Hi everyone, I shoot Sony raw and use Photoshop Camera Raw to edit. When I was shooting Canon, I would just double click the CR2 file and it would immediately open in Camera Raw. But what I have to do with ARW is right click > open with > other > and then select Photoshop. I can click to then "always open with" PS, but is there a way to force my computer to open with PS just by double clicking again? Like telling my settings to open an ARW file with PS, rather than this workaround of needing the file first.

Thanks

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble while trying to open the .ARW files directly in Photoshop. It appears that the file association of the CR2 files is set to Photoshop while for the ARW files is not. You can try changing the file association of the ARW to Photoshop using the steps suggested here: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/how-to-change-default-applications-mac

Let us know if it helps!

Regards,

Nikunj
