Opening Bridge in Photoshop through the Cloud?

New Here ,
Dec 20, 2016 Dec 20, 2016

Hello! I am quite new to photoshop (I literally downloaded it yesterday) and I was looking at some tutorials about how to use photoshop that recommended using the Adobe Bridge program. I installed it. However, every time I try and open photos through Bridge on Photoshop, the Adobe Creative Cloud application pops up and from there I have to press "open" on bridge. But when I watch the tutorials, this step is non-existent. Whey they brouse through bridge on photoshop it just launches the bridge app. I also tried again when bridge is already open and it launches the cloud instead. I tried closing the cloud with bridge open and it still opens the cloud. I tried googling this problem but nobody else seems to be having this issue. I was wondering if anybody knew if there was a way to fix this? Thank you.

Older versions of Photoshop used to have what was called 'mini Bridge' which actually opened inside of Photoshop. That is gone now. Bridge is still a stand alone application though. You can view your images with Bridge, and then open them into Photoshop from there. But you do not browse bridge inside of Photoshop.

Bridge CC 2017 is a separate download and that what you need to install.

When you double-click on a photo in Bridge, it should open in Photoshop. If not, use File > Open or Ctrl/Cmd o to browse and open files instead.

When you learn more, you can chase down the problem with Bridge. You do want to get familiar with Photoshop first.

And do feel able to return to this friendly forum to ask further questions about particular issues, though I would suggest you also get a couple of training books such as the ClassRoom in a Book series and the QuickStart Guides. Also there are excellent online video tutorials from Adobe (free): Products | Photoshop | Adobe TV and from Lynda.com (paid for, though you can get a free 10-day trial) such as: Photoshop CC 2017 Essential Training: Photography
