P: (1093074) Ps v26.8.1 crashes only when using Style Transfer Neural Filters
To Adobe Support,
I'm writing to report a persistent issue with Photoshop's Neural Filters—specifically the "Style Transfer" filter—which causes Photoshop to crash whenever GPU acceleration is enabled.
System Details:
-
Photoshop version: [26.8.1]
-
Operating System: [Windows 11 Pro, version 24H2]
-
GPU: [NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti ]
-
GPU Driver: [Insert driver version, e.g., Studio Driver 576.80]
-
GPU Compatibility Check: Passed
- Camera Raw [17.4.1.2280]
-
Crash Type: Immediate crash and reboot when clicking on any of the downloaded style in Neural Filters → Style Transfer (only with GPU enabled) but not on other Neural Filters. I can download new styles but if I click on them to activate, that is when it crashes. All the Style Filters do this.
Observations:
-
Camera Raw filter in Photoshop requires GPU enabled to function, but enabling GPU causes Style Transfer to crash.
-
Disabling GPU prevents crashes during Style Transfer, but then Camera Raw becomes unavailable.
-
I have deleted and redownloaded filters, and tried different GPU drawing modes ("Basic", "Normal", etc.).
-
I have also tried disabling Native Canvas and Multithreaded Compositing, but the crash still occurs.
- Everything works if I go back to Camera Raw 14.5 but it's too old and does not have the tools I need.
I have tried older and newest versios of NVIDIA Studio Drivers using DDU for clean install. - I have tried using Adobe Cleaner and fallowed up with deleteing stray files and then clean install of Photoshop and the problem still occurs.
-
Importantly, when using Lightroom Classic, which also uses the Camera Raw engine and the same GPU, everything works without issue—no crashes at all.
-
This points to an internal conflict in Photoshop’s handling of Neural Filters + GPU, NOT a hardware, driver, or filter problem.
Request:
Please investigate this GPU-related crash specific to Neural Filters → Style Transfer in Photoshop. If possible, provide a fix, a recommended workaround, or confirm whether this is a known bug. It seems to be linked to Camera Raw as the very old version 14.5 does not crash the Neural Filters but then I cant take advantage of the current Cam Raw features I need such as detailed face detection masking.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
