Hi All,

Apologies for the flashing/strobing you're experiencing when opening files, this tends to affect older graphics cards (GPU) that don't support all of the aspects of DirectX 12.

For Windows:

  1. Update Photoshop to version 24.5 or later
  2. Enable the Older GPU Mode option in Preferences > Technology Previews > “Use Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)"
  3. Check if there's a GPU driver update available and update if so

For macOS:

  1. Update Photoshop to version 24.5 or later
  2. Update to a newer or latest ma

We would like to find out if there are any of you on Windows for whom:

A. Use Older GPU Mode is Checked, and

B. Deactivate Native canvas is Unchecked, and

C. are still experiencing this strobing issue with a GPU that supports DirectX 12?

If so, could you please provide Photoshop's Help > System Info dialog text in this thread?

Hello,

Look at this message of Pete Green. I had the same problem and  it was resolveld with a simple clic.

"

Apologies for the flashing/strobing you're experiencing when opening files, this tends to affect older graphics cards (GPU) that don't support all of the aspects of DirectX 12.

  1. The first thing to try would be, enable the Older GPU option in Preferences > Technology Previews > “Use Older GPU Mode (pre 2016)”
  2. If still having trouble, try enabling the "Deactivate Native Canvas" option also in Technology Previews

Regards,

PG"

Since an automatic Photoshop update of today 25/03/2023 I can't open any jpg file I've been using without problems in Photoshop before. All images open with an eternal black and white flicker. I can save the files under another name and the windows image seems correct, but Photoshop is unable to visualize it correctly. And no, the files are not corrupt, they open in any program except Photoshop. Sad quality control.

Hi,

My Photoshop 2020 is flickering, so I did as written and turned off the Graphics Processor in the Preferences.

But now, I can't use the rotation option, which is impossible to draw without it - the only way to fix it is to check back the Graphics Processor - then it blinks again - HELP.

Until Adobe fixes the problem, I would suggest rolling back to the previous
update that worked. For me it was the 24.2.1 release.

@devious no reason to downgrade - there is an accepted answer for this issue.

The solution doesn't work for everyone, as it can cause other issues, I
experienced a lag with brush tools and found it better to roll back to the
previous upgrade ,which worked perfectly.. Until Adobe sort it out, I'll
stick with 24.2.1 release.

As I said above, none of the fixes mentioned here do anything. The flickering continues.

System: Windows

PS version: latest (24.3.x)

What happened? See video. Updated to latest PS today, had this effect. Basically two things. A) crazy flickering and b) setting from New dialog were not saved

Solution: removed 24.3.x and installed 24.0.0 again, which I had before, and the problem was gone.
