Since yesterday's update, can´t even open a jpg file. Always says: Could not complete your request because of a program error. I need to work.

Hi all,

05/20 update: We have resolved another program error issue while dragging assets from libraries to the artboard in Photoshop 22.4.1 update. Could you please update Photoshop to the 22.4.1 version via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app and let us know your feedback.

Here's how you update Photoshop to its latest version: Update Creative Cloud apps

Thanks,

Mohit

Tried to disable generator, disable grapic processor, reset all settings and reinstall the app.

I'm using macOS 11.2.1 (Big Sur) with Photoshop is latest (v22.2) version.

My Mac is MacBook Pro 15 inch late 2018, with 32GB RAM and Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB, which should be compatible with v22.2.

However, everytime I try to open any file in v22.2, it shows "could not complete your request because of a program error." Disabling grapic processor in Photoshop settings can make me open the file, but a lot of features doesn't work, such as select a range of image and fill it with color. When I try to do that, it would show "could not complete your request because of a program error." again.

Downgrading to v21.x can solve this issue, so I think it's a bug of v22.x. Also, in the settings of Photoshop, I noticed that it doesn't recognize my graphic card. There's nothing shows in the "Detected Graphic Processor" field.

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop due to the Program error & the issue with graphics card. Our product team is working on a fix for the program error. Meanwhile, you can try the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/2JZDqZB

If the issue persists, please continue using the 2020 version of Photoshop for now while our product team works on a fix.

Regarding the issue you're facing with the graphics card (with the card not being detected in Photoshop), please check: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cc-gpu-card-faq.html#Unsupportedgraphicscards

I have tried almost all the possible solutions and at this point, I am Praying that everytime I see that there's a new updated this issue will be addressed, but to date, no fixes have come with the solution, The issue is:

I will open a file and edit it and then click CMD + S (Save) and this Could not save file error will pop up. and then I would have to go and "Save As" and change the file name, and this, you can imagine, is a pain in the neck. Please address.

Trying to use Photoshop ver. 22.2

Just uninstalled and, after restarting computer, reinstalled program. Still cannot open any .JPG. See "Could not complete your request because of a program error" message on screen.

Cannot exit Photoshop because the same message appears; must turn-off the computer to close the program. All a real hassle. Thank you for substantive assistance.

Nikunj,

Thank you for your reply. I am using Windows 10 on a Dell desktop that is 5 years old. All systems are regularly updated. I had not had any problems with PS until a few weeks ago.

I went through the steps to attempt to correct the problem. I uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop; restarting my computer to no success. The problem remained, including preventing the closure of PS.

I was able to roll back to version 22.1.1 but that did not solve the problem. In fact, at that point, even when restarting my computer, I could not open Creative Suites to uninstall ver. 22.1.1.

I then uninstalled Creative Suites and re-installed it. From there, I was able to open it and uninstall 22.1.1 and roll back to 22.0.

With PS ver. 22.0 installed, all is working again.

Thank you,
Anita15D5

Has anyone else experienced this error in Photoshop? It basically doesn't allow you to resave a previously saved file withou popping up this error. When you look into the location however, you'll notice a big long numbered file name ending in .psd saved instead.
