Hi all,

05/20 update: We have resolved another program error issue while dragging assets from libraries to the artboard in Photoshop 22.4.1 update. Could you please update Photoshop to the 22.4.1 version via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app and let us know your feedback.

Here's how you update Photoshop to its latest version: Update Creative Cloud apps

Thanks,

Mohit

Ok I can confirm that version works for me. I updated and everything works. At least I am not getting error and can open files and etc. Do not check box - Delete old version at the time of upgrade. Just in case.

The latest update hasn't fixed the issue for me. Is there likely to be another update/patch soon, I'm eager to get up and running!

I have followed each of the known issues, which do not resolve the issue.

The program error message continues to come up when clicking on ANYTHING, even closing ps causes the error message to multiply across the screen and force quit is needed to successfully close it.

Is this likely to be a case of old computers not being able to handle the new updates?

Thanks

Upgraded today and have the same error message. Tried to downgrade two versions to 21.2.4 and still the same error message. So how it goes - not good. Is there a solution or source for previous versions that work?

Thanks.

I had identical issue with you - it not only trashed my v21 but also my previously working v20!

I still (luckily) had CS5.1 installer, installed that, and it works. Lacks smart filters, but at least it doesn't crash.

Bug fix didn't work for me, spoke briefly to the programmers a couple of weeks ago, but back to radio silence from them again.

Quick & dirty options for getting work done if you don't have CS5 would be to try a free option like GIMP or a trial of COREL PAINTER.

I've asked many times on this thread:

ADOBE: MAKE CS6 DOWNLOADABLE ON CC INSTALLER. IT WILL WORK AS AN INTERIM FIX.

Turning off the Graphics Processor stopped the error message but now everything is running too slow to be useful.

I've just now updated to 22.0.1 - however when I go to Edit>Prefences>Performance, the option to select "Use Graphics Processor" is greyed out so that I can't select this option. It is also not showing any detected Graphics Processor 😞

What OS are you running? What is your video card? Did you check to make sure it meets the new requirements for Photoshop before upgrading?

22.0.1 appears to fix the issue without needing to turn off the "use graphics processor" setting.  I'm using a 2017 Macbook Pro with Catalina 10.15.7.   I can create and save new files as expected.

I am on a 2015 MacBook Pro, and have updated to 22.0.1, however if I click anywhere in the program,  try to open the preferences (to disable the graphics processor), or even close Photoshop I get the program error message - often successive error messages that fill up the screen. I have tried all other suggested fixes - where can I go from here?

Just to say that I added an extra Radeon Pro Vega II to my MacPro 2019 today with a Fabric Link bridge between the two.  I've had zero problems with Photoshop CC 2021 until I did that, but now that I have it no longer detects the graphic card (checked under preferences/performance and doesn't show up).  That's why I'm here.  Note that older version fo Photoshop CC (e.g. 2019 and 2020) do detect the bridged graphics cared, as does Lightroom Classic.  SO THIS IS NOT FIXED IN PS CC2021 v22.01 for this graphics card configuration.  Also tried removing CC2021 and reinstalling (after startup).  No difference.  Please fix in the next release in the meantime I'm going back to PS 2020!

Just to add that I tried removing the sniffer file from the PS CC 2021 app file (after using 'show package contents), which is a known hack for fixing issues with PS not recognising graphics cards.  Now PS2021 detects my graphics cards OK.  Maybe a useful workaround to consider until Adobe fixes this properly?

I guess this arises as the new functions in CC2021 need more horse-power for graphics acceleration, so perhaps the 'white list' of graphics cards has been updated and there are some errors and ommissions?

Stevie, I tried removing sniffer but no luck. What do you mean by 'show package contents' - I may have missed that.

Hi there, if you are using MacOS, and want to 'look inside' an app file,
then you need to right-click and choose 'show package contents' to 'open
up' the exec file to see its components inside the PSCC2021 exec file
'wrapper'. That's where to find the sniffer exec file on MacOS.

I think you can see it 'directly' in Windows x86, but am not using Adobe CC
on Windows. A quick Google search would confirm.

Just to say, I have opened and closed PSCC2021 a couple of times now and
after deleting the sniffer exec file and it's still working for me on MacOS
Catalina 10.15.7.

Hope that helps, Steve

I've seen a Photoshop 22.0.1 on a computer that still had this issue. Had to use this workaround: Edit > Preferences > Performance > untick 'Use Graphics processor'.

I am having the same issue on a desktop using an Nvidia NVS510, running the latest drivers from October 2020. Trying to open any file gives the previously mentioned error, but unchecking "Use Graphics Processor" makes things work again. This is just silly that they cannot figure out the underlying issue.

I tried to fix this on 4 different cards. Palit, MSI, Gainward. Nvidia GTX1660, Radeon R9. Checking, unchcecking, Reseting all setings, deleting all setings. ISDN (It's Still Does Nothing) I thing the problem is somewhere inside PS.

Does not fix issue. The work around is still working. Why am I paying a monthly fee for something that does not work properly?

Nice. Just renewed my membership too. Uninstalled deleting prefs and reinstalled, to no avail. CANNOT EVEN CREATE A NEW FILE. Thousands of pros must be having this problem and unable to work for the past month or longer. Where is the fix, Adobe?

Until there is another update that fixes this issue the only effective
workaround (not a fix, if you want you full graphics card features and that
workaround did nothing for me) is to return to the previous version. This
has worked for me.
