P: Ps Splash Screen - Why am I getting Rings of Power ad?

This is revolting; I pay monthly for Photoshop, and now I'm forced to see an ad for the Amazon Rings of Power series every time I open it?

This is a disservice to the consumer; what is the next step? having to see a 30-second ad in order to save a file?

Partnership, ad, cross-promotional opportunity… call it what you like. Adobe is giving a nod to several artists from various walks of life who created assets for Amazon Prime's LotR TV series. Who commissioned who is not immediately clear, but it seems rather innocuous to me. On the other hand, as the show claims, “Nothing is evil in the beginning…”

Here is a way to disable the splash screen from the shortcut icon. Another option is to click open and shut your eyes for a count of about 15 seconds, then never close Photoshop again (or at least not until the image changes to one that doesn't offend you).

IMHO every new version opening screen is worse than previous. The last one with strange pink person is the uggliest. Besides, where have big electric cat gone?

I found a thread from the InDesign Community  where an Adobe Employee said that the artwork is chosen by the Branding team.

Hi, I love the splash page art (usually) for the different Adobe products. It's a unique way to share art by different creators...but Adobe, you are treading a fine line between showcasing art and advertising another product every time we open your software.

Currently, Amazon has their Lord of The Rings show going on...and there is art "inspired" by Lord of The Rings on some of your splash pages. I find this suspicious and concerning. This blurs the line between showcasing art for the sake of the artist and for the sake of advertising a multi-million dollar show broadcasted on a seperate service (Amazon).

Yes, Adobe products are used in making of this show! (I'm a commercial animator...and use Adobe for a ton of client work, just like the rest of the world). But will we see Coca-Cola or Nike "art" before opening Photoshop everytime? Will there be discount codes that have been "designed" in Illustrator that we can conveniently use?

When does showcasing art becoming another way to advertise to users that already pay for your product? As usual, brands will test the waters - no complaints with an image of an elf from Lord of the Rings...but how far will the limits be pushed until we see more art disguised as advertising?

I much prefer art that isn't connected to advertising motive for something we already pay for.

I decided to open this post because I haven't found any proper solution for this issue. In short, I use both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for my work, and for time now I'm getting these ads related to the Rings of Power series of Amazon. As costumer of Adobe I will make this question simple: I don't want to see it in the product I pay to use, how do I remove it?

I tried the -NoSplash method but it didn't seem to work, I still get both ads in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Please fellow forum users, I would ask you all to stick to my topic question, "How I disable or Remove that Ad" and nothing else.

I would appreacite any help archieving this beside canceling my adobe subscription and use an ''alternative'' version of it intead.

And here I thought the answer was to go to Stonehenge, paint your face blue, and throw some dandelions up in the air,

This is what all this silly fuss is about?

It's a piece of artwork, created in Photoshop. Nothing new ranters:

Get a grip! This CWOBaT (colossal waste of bandwidth and time).

It's on screen for like 8 seconds.

I feel that a number of Adobe Community Professionals are piling up on users concerned about this matter and that direct intervention from Adobe is probably needed here.

As a matter of working efficience: I start most of the programs only once at the first need or after a restart.

As a matter of support for artists: I appreciate Adobe to source images from Behance. And I love looking at those (I especially loved the mermaid).

As a natter of fact: the splash screen is shown during the time Adobe programs start, not for a fixed amount of time. If you do not like the image, wait for the next update, and the splash screen changes again.

I look forward to all the "certainly not an advertisement" splash screens for Raid Shadow Legends and Nord VPN.

Surely they have 'fan art' communities as well!

To me, none of the arguments presented in this thread are relevant:

  • No, I'm not going to use a beta version for critical production work. Not going to happen, ever.
  • It's not about how long it's up. 10 seconds is more than enough to burn into the retina.
  • And I have no problems with the "Rings of Power" connection. It's a media phenomenon, fine, go with it.

Just not on the splash screen! What I object to is the repeated exposure, ten or fifteen times a day, and right at the very moment when you're 100% focused on what happens on screen. Ignore it? Good luck.

We've discussed this before, and I seem to have problems getting a certain point across: there's a huge difference beteen seeing an image once or twice, and having it repeatedly pushed in your face when you least want it.

An image will have to be incredibly good to hold up to that. So far, none of them are.

I have a mind to put this up in either "bugs" or "ideas", to make it clear that this is a serious heartfelt request. Just haven't decided which. A lot of us don't want this.

Oh, BTW, the "-NoSplash" trick only works when launching the application cold from the taskbar. It does not work when launching the app by opening a document (which is what I do all the time).

It's clearly not a bug so put it in ideas and let's vote. Hopefully there will be more votes than comments! :]

My preference is for abstract patterns over photos or illustrations etc.
