After installing the new Photoshop 2020 on my Wacom Companion 2, turns out the pen pressure is NOT WORKING at all. However the previous versions (20.0.6 and 19.1.6) still work perfectly with the pen pressure.
Has anyone run into that issue ?
{Thread renamed by moderator}
I have the same proplem ... version 20.0.8 worked just fine.
Win 10
Found solution:
create a file in "C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2020\Adobe Photoshop 2020 Settings"
called
PSUserConfig.txt
with this text
# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0
Update : With 21.2.2 you may need to remove the PSUserConfig.txt file
The latest versions are designed to work with Windows Ink and Adobe have made improvements in that area, many of the old bugs have been addressed. I've used Windows Ink here for the last year.
Remove the PSUserConfig.txt file and in Wacom tablet properties check Windows Ink.

This works, but now I'm back to having to deal with those horrible Windows Ink modifier key pop ups.

Pressure sensetivity is fixed, but with windows link enabled wacom right click button is not working in Bridge for example. Looks like a temporary solution for now

Chad you seem to be glossing over the fact when Windows Ink is enabled, it introduces other issues which can be more troublesome than not having pressure sensitivy. Not sure why it has to be one or the other... Windows Ink doesn't offer the solution we need. Please push this up the chain, as the UseSystemStylus 0 solution gave us all what we wanted... pressure sensitivity without additional bugs, or lack of functionality, or need for other workarounds.

@norcalf0x I'm not trying to gloss over anything. Please, tell me what bugs or issues are still deal breakers for using Win Ink. We know about the OS toast for modifier keys and we're trying to work with MS to get an option to disable those, but what else specifically? Tell me what's missing, using 21.2.2 and Win Ink enabled in Wacom settings. The PSUserConfig workaround is old, from the Win7 days and MS has EOL'd Win7.

@chad_Rolfs For one if I have to click on anything the pen doesn't want to click. I literally cannot get something like this:
To go away without using a mouse instead. Same issues when trying to open files, using the save dialog or trying to click-drag images into PS

@Chad_Rolfs Actually, with windows ink on I'm having trouble clicking on anything with my mouse inside of photoshop. I cannot click away a dialog, and I cannot close out photoshop, no buttons work. I must have hit enter last time I was testing it out.
That's with no PSUserConfig doc and ink on. All latest updates with drivers and such.
With PSUserConfig put in and ink off I'm able to use my mouse normally, but no pen pressure.

For me personally, popups such as system notifications like "not able to use brush because layer is hidden" as stated here already. Additionally, Windows Ink behaves differently giving particular brushes different effects, weights or texture variability, having to rework all your settings to fine tune something that was working a day ago. Other things include the pens behaviour with liquify and it often lags on a system that is well and truly above and beyond what is needed for the liquify. Sluggish overall behaviour on certain brushes as well, usually anything with a texture or dual brush setting, none of which had a problem prior to the patch. Just to name a few.

I'm not understanding how you are getting popups? Can you walk me through the steps so that I can reproduce what you're running into with this?
BTW, we are working on fixing this and really appreciate all this feedback. I also apologize for the pain this breakage has caused.

The pop ups are present as everyone else has stated. Other issues for me are a serious lag when moving the canvas around the screen. My cursor will move for a second then the canvas will suddenly snap to the cursor.
There is also brush lag but not as severe, and zooming feels the same as moving the canvas.
I also realised that in previous versions I have always had windows ink enabled (Huion) and the .txt file and it worked great, as it does with all the other apps which have pressure sensitivity.

right now the biggest main issues are : ( while Pen pressure sensetivity is fixed with Winlink enabled )
Right & double click on Pro Pen 2 are not working correctly
-Right Click now is just zooming instead of window option of ( Fit on Screen, 100%, 200%, Print size, etc..)
-Right Click with Alt is not bringing the option to increase/reduce brush size as it was ( and that option is really important for process)
in a few words Pro Pen 2 with windows link enabled is not assigned correctly.
i would apriciate if we could have a fix for this issue as i cant work and i have really urgent artwork deadlines.
thanks

I think I have solved the issue...
-Remove PSUserconfig text file...
-Activate Windows Ink on Wacom preferences...
-(You can choose to only activate windows ink on photoshop and deactivate it for all other apps)
Go to Windows settings > search Windows Ink > Uncheck Show visual effects > Check touch input when I'm using my pen
This fix removed the visual effects of windows ink, that annoying halo effect caused unstable pen pressure.

Hello everybody. Just to clarify :
We are used to turn of Windows Ink systematicaly when using a Pen Tablet because it causes a lot of issues. (Wacom and other brands)
When windows Ink is ON :
1-There is a 1 second delay with every new clic and drag before the cursor catches up with the stylus. It happens when dragging a window, using a slider to adjust a value (in photoshop or any other app), resizing a layer, and even when drawing. So the begining of each new stroke will freeze for 1 sec before catching up to the movement of the stylus. You can imagine the hell it can be when hatching, or doing small repetitive movements.
2-Certain applications, like Chrome for exemple, don't respond to the stylus for certain things. You can't move the chrome window around at all when windows ink is enabled. You can't drag and drop email in your inbox from one tab to another ...etc.
3-Windows Pen & Stylus fonctionnalites are working against a fluid use of a Stylus. Especially the infamous "Press and hold" setting, that needs to be disabled systematically if you don't want this "mouse freezing blue circle of death" to appear each time you stop moving your hand for more than half of a second. (I suspect this functionnality to be responsible for the lag before each new stroke, even when you have it turned off)
4-Just while typing this post, I've discoverd a new issue. With Windows Ink enabled, it is impossible to select text by dragging over it with the stylus. I had to drop it and use my mouse each time I wanted to edit a sentence.
These are all the reasons (I can think of right now) why we have no choice but to disable Windows Ink, and use the WinTab alternative to get the pressure sensitivity back in Photoshop.
I'm assuming that everyone would love to use regular settings, and not to have to tamper with this kind of work around every time, but unfortunatly that is not possible.
I'm also having the issue of not being able to get pressure sensitivity back in Photoshop with the PSUserconfig.txt trick since the last update. And I hope you now understand why enabling Windows Ink is not a fix.
Again, using the PSUserConfig trick is not a choice, it is essential for a proper workflow.
I'm currently paying for the full Adobe suite, and not being able to work properly is a big issue right now.
Not knowing when this will be resolved is very worrisome.
PS: "Windows Ink" or "Pen and Touch" drivers on Windows, are currently pushing for touch and tablet functionnalities. These are cumbersome and unfit for any professional Stylus use.

Wow! You said it like a God! All right! I have absolutely the same troubles and the same experience and I'm actually sure that a lot of users (if not even say ALL USERS of Win10) have the same. And these regularly repeating troubles with every PS update make me really angry! I have my workflow crashed right now and the deadline is close (((

dittoing all of these. Some of them I don't use often so didn't think of. But aside from the fact that pen pressure and tilt just still point blank doesn't work right, you're right, text tool doesn't work right with pen now either. I didn't notice a delay when dragging stuff but I do get a weird artefacting where say a selection box will move (very laggy even with an extremely high powered pc) but then leave imprints of it like slow motion (like some buggy windows 98).
The fact this has gone on for years and adobe keeps glossing over everything really has me eyeing clip studio paint for my workflow instead, like many in my industry already have, and leaving photoshop in the dust

Hi Chad, I'm a PS user for the last 10 years, and I can tell you that every single artist I've met that uses PC and photoshop detests Windows Ink. It is a deal breaker because that is not an issue on Mac, but not everyone can afford to have a Mac for Photoshop only, and a PC for 3d work, for example. Some of the incredibly annoying things from Windows Ink are the white ring that pops up when right-clicking, the pop-up modifier keys, and the messing up with pressure sensitivity. For digital painting, and especially for digital drawing, these are huge issues that interfere with precision and speed. Artists have tried for years to work around these issues, but MS only seems to keep pushing for functions nobody requested. Now, I have just installed PS2021 and the pressure sensitivity is disabled, with or without WinInk. Wacom Tablet Properties shows pressure on the pen, so it seems to be a PS problem at this time. Yes, I have unistalled all the drivers, updated, etc. This is as honest and specific an answer as I can give.

going to poke in from 2021 that this issue still isn't actually fixed. Using Windows ink but requiring it, not being able to switch to just Wacom controls, isn't fixing the problem. A lot of issues come up with using windows ink in a lot of our workflows: for me it's the fact that while yes there is pressure sensitivity, it doesn't seem to adjust or grade based on the my pressure curves in Wacom (and no similar way in Windows 10 on a desktop to do this), I notice there's still brush artifacting when you use windows ink (I don't use the hard round almost ever but it happens on it too, also the artefacting/jumpiness happens on lasso as well. Seemingly only when Windows Ink is on which leads me to believe that it's a matter of windows (vs Wacom's) touch sensitivity being off/not as good. There's also a lot of lag compared to the old just using wacom/no windows ink. The biggest one for me though is the pressure sensitivity not matching up and not being adequately customizable. I might as well use an old bamboo tablet vs my cintiq if this is how it's going to be, it feels like I am.

Hello , first of all, sorry if something is confusing, english is not my first lenguage. Maybe this can help someone.
I had the same problem with Wacom Cintiq 22hdt on windows 10 an photoshop v21.2.2, Pen pressuer didn´t work at all, and if I eneable the windows ink that unable the secundary botton of the pen. So far I made it work again; I uninstall photoshop with all the settings (export your settings and brushes before) then I reinstall photoshop and use the old trick of the .txt file (PSUserConfig.txt with this text# Use WinTabUseSystemStylus 0) but this time enable the "windows ink" on wacom settings And did work. Just make sure to go to the brushes setting of photoshop and eneable "pen pressure" on "Shape Dynamics" and also I had eneable "inherited compositions" on the "perfomrance" option in settings

Use de file PSUserConfig the same way.
Deselect in Wacom Center the use WinTab
Works fine back again wih the last version of Photoshop

Rolling back the Wacom driver made no difference with Photoshop's ability to recognize the PSUserConfig settings. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Photoshop 2021 - Pressure sensitivity not working either. PC W10 latest update. Also, the "Legacy compositing" option is gone.
