Photoshop 2022 (23.4.1) on Mac OS crashes when using Wacom Cintiq 13HD

I've been the last few weeks with an odd crash going on my MacOS version of Photoshop whenever i use my Cintiq 13HD tablet:

My Photoshop version is 23.4.1 (cumpletely up to date)

I use a 21.5" 2019 i5 iMac, 4K retina display, 16gb of RAM and Radeon Pro 560X 4gb GPU

My OS (Monterey 12.4) is also up to date.

My tablet is a Cintiq 13HD Touch using the latest 6.3.46-1 drivers.

Whenever I open any file and start using the brush for a minute or so, the program locks up.

I've been trying to tweak the Performance settings on Preferences, but the whole program still freezes on me.

The program stays on frozen until I force to stop it.

Hi @mirarisagarzazu, sorry to hear this. Do you have any sense of when this started to show up? Have you tried rolling back to the previous version of Ps (23.3.2) to see if it still happens?

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

When the crash occurs, do you get a crash report dialog?

Can you submit the crash reports and include your email address so we can investigate further?

Hi Pete, I think I have a similar issue, and it isn't actually a crash - just a freeze, which I can only resolve with a Force Quit.

I am on an imac Retina 2015, with an old ( 2012) Cintiq 24HD Touch. Seems like the Touch and the Pen inputs are getting confused - I use the brush tool with my pen for a while and soon get a spinning wheel everytime. Trying to roll back Monterey to Big Sur, at present - it seems like the problem started wehn I upgraded to Monterey. I have tried older Wacom Drivers, older Photoshop - no luck so far. Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I am having the exact same problem and it´s driving me crazy. I can´t draw for 10min straight without Photoshop crashing by showing me the spinning color wheel. All I can do is force quit PSD and hope the reconstructed file saved as much progress as possible.

I am on a 2018 Macbook Pro, Monterey 12.5.1:

2,9 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i9

32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB

I use the Wacom Cintiq Pro 32inch Touch (DTH-3220).

Wacom Driver Version 6.4.0-6

Photoshop 2023: 24.0.0

I tried reinstalling the driver, messing around with the Cache and Performance Settings in PSD, clearing space, switching to PSB and so on ...

My canvas isn´t even that big: 7016 x 4960 600dpi (I worked on double the size before, tons of layers, without problems)

The file size is less than 1GB.

Even when I started with only one layer roughly sketching out it froze after a few minutes.

Sometimes the Wacom driver refreshs and sometimes the click does´nt work. Restarting the driver makes things worse: it won´t find the Tablett until I log out of my Mac User.

Could be Wacom. Could be PSD. Could be the OS. Could be all of it. I have no idea and it´s super frustrating cause it takes me out of my workflow and causes me hours and hours.
