Photoshop 2022 not saving why layer styles

This actually started last year and has not gotten any better with updates. I no longer have capability of saving my layer style or importing my layer styles even know I tried to with import/export presets to import some that I have saved or downloaded. I used to be able to save the layer style and save it to my library. I no longer have that capability. It doesn't even offer me a way to open or import a saved layer style. The button in layers style that says new style doesn't even function.

This also goes for importing contours, gradients, brushes, and all the other things. Even actions. I've tried to remove Photoshop and put it back in but that did not solve the issue.

Any suggestions from Adobe would be appreciated.

Hi @GBGD  sorry to hear you have had this issue for a long time.  Tested here and were able to click the New Style button and get the next step popup... curious if maybe your preferences are corrupt?

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Does it work correctly? 

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back. 

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Ok @GBGD, the team has requsted some more info so they can help figure out what is happening here.

You are mentioning 2 issues:

1. Saving a style preset. Regarding this, from the screen captures and your comments we cannot determine what is the workflow. If the style effect is already applied to a layer and you want to create a preset, the layer should be selected and the + icon will become enabled.
   
   If you are using the Layers Styles dialog (as I posted in the forum), once the style is defined you can click on New Style. Preset Sync shouldn't be preventing the creation of a style preset. The style should be added to the Styles panel.
   
   
   
2.  There is an intermittent bug currently where the Import/Export menu options are not enabled until a folder or preset is clicked on.

Well there is no way to screen capture what I am seeing so I'm notating the
screen capture I did. When I design a layer style I hit save style and it
will not save it. It's like the button does not function. Therefore I can't
even save it in my Adobe cc library unless I have to drag the layer style
from the layer into the library folder, and that is the only way I can save
layer style. I cannot even drag it into the styles tab. That's fine for the
project I am working on, but if it is the style I would like to save and
use at some other point, I would prefer it if it was saved in layer styles.

As I try to explain, the button in the style dialog box will not save the
style either to Photoshop or to Library. The only other solution so that
you can see what is going on is to get into my computer and see for
yourself.

Hi,

Using Finder with Photoshop not running:

1. can you go to the top menu commands Go> Go to folder...
2. In the dialog paste in this path "~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop 2022 Settings"
3.  drag the highlighted folder to your desktop (so you can restore them back later) 
4.  launch Photoshop again
5.  create a new default RGB 8bit document, add a new layer then add a brush stroke
6.  double click on the layer to bring up the Layer Style dialog, and apply a Gradient Overlay
7. now in the same dialog, click on the top left Styles label to see any existing Styles
8. click on the New Style...button to save a new style
9. click on OK, and note if style appears
