Photoshop 2022 won't open

I just uploaded Photoshop 2022 onto my MacBook (macOS 10.15.7).  After playing around with it for a few minutes, I closed the app, and now it won't open again.  Trying to open a .psd file gets me a  'The application “Adobe Photoshop 2022.app” is not open anymore.' message.  Trying to open the app directly does nothing.
